Marco Silva has confirmed that if Everton are to do transfer business in January or next summer, then he will only be interested in bringing in players that are better than what the Blues boss currently has at his disposal.
When asked about possible new additions arriving in January, Silva said :
“Like you know, I don’t like to talk about the specific positions. It is my way and I don’t think it is the best way to talk about specific positions, you have to respect our players who are doing fantastic, working really hard.
“We started with three strikers, plus one, because I told you since the first day that Richarlison could play there as well.
“They are doing everything to be in a position to help the team so it is not fair (to talk about signing a new striker) because I could speak to you about other positions where we can improve as well.
“Even in the positions where we are really happy, we can still improve all the time.
Silva also addressed the issue of Everton breaking into the top 6 and the imbalance in results for the Blues against the top sides so far this season with the Blues managing just one goal (a penalty) from games against Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool, Silva said :
“I understand but when you are talking about playing against these type of teams you can talk about their budget and our budget – it is completely different.
“Even they may want to improve their teams as well. We did what was possible in the last market, we did really well and now is the moment to work with the players and next month we have time to talk with the players about the situation and again next summer.
“But it is clear in my mind that for players to join us they have to be better than what we have. They have to come and improve our squad but if not then we are happy with the players we have and it is my job to work with them and develop them.”
Is THIS PLAYER one of the players on Silva’s list?
