Everton players join toddlers at ‘amazing’ Finch Farm party
USM Finch Farm hosted a training session with a difference on Wednesday as Everton’s players joined 50 of the Club’s youngest Official Members at the first ever Tiny Toffees party.
The children, aged between 18 months and three years, were invited to the Blues’ training ground in Halewood for football, photos and soft play, with the likes of Jordan Pickford, Theo Walcott and Gylfi Sigurdsson throwing themselves into the fun.
Parents of all Junior Official Members were invited to apply for a place at the event – one of a host of exclusive benefits of signing up to the Club’s revamped scheme for 2019/20.
As well as photo opportunities and kickabouts with the players, there was also ball pools, bouncy castles and inflatable obstacles for the youngsters to enjoy.
“It’s been a really good laugh,” midfielder Tom Davies told evertontv. “It’s been carnage at times but it’s just great to see all the kids running around, laughing and getting involved. They’re having a brilliant time, which is what it’s all about.”
First-team coach Duncan Ferguson also took time out from preparations for Saturday’s trip to Brighton to meet the toddlers and their families, some of whom had journeyed the length of England to be there.
“I was just speaking to someone who’s driven here today from Winchester – him, his wife and his kid,” said Ferguson. “That’s some sacrifice but it’s what Evertonians do, isn’t it?
“It’s been really enjoyable and it’s been great for the parents to see the players and see their kids having a run around with them. It’s a thank you to them.
“To see the faces of the parents and how made up they are, it’s great. And some of the grandparents are even made up to see me!”
Evertonian Andy Heron travelled with his daughter from Oxfordshire to attend the party but had no regrets about the 300-mile round trip.
“It’s been fantastic, I think what they’ve done for the kids is amazing,” he said. “My daughter has had a ball, she’s been loving it meeting all the players.
“I’m not aware of any other club that is doing what Everton are doing and it’s phenomenal. It’s made our week and we’ll be talking about it for weeks to come as well.”
Rebecca Munn, who joined her son and grandfather at the event, added: “We’ve had a great time.
“I’m actually a Liverpool fan. My boyfriend signed our son up and he couldn’t come today so he’s going to be absolutely gutted. It’s been absolutely amazing, and so lovely.”
