Everton target David Neres has given an interview to Voetbal Primeur and stated that he is happy with the club, but did not quash talk of a move to the Premier League with Everton.
Ajax have been in brilliant form this season, reaching the semi-finals after dumping Real Madrid and Juventus out of the competition, and Neres has played his part by scoring a very important equaliser in the 1st Leg of their quarter final match against Juventus. Neres’ brilliant individual strike cancelled out a Ronaldo header as the teams drew 1-1 at the Amsterdam Arena. Ajax won the return game in Turin to reach the semi-finals.
Tottenham Hotspur await in the semi-finals, and with Ajax also chasing the Eredivisie title, it could end up being a dream season for Erik ten Hag’s side.
Ajax’s success means that their top players attracting major interest, with midfield supremo Frenkie de Jong is joining Barcelona at the end of the season.
There is also big interest in Matthijs de Ligt and Hakim Ziyech as well as other young players who have caught the eye of top clubs around Europe’s biggest leagues after the Dutch side’s Champions League performances.
However, it is winger David Neres that has caught the attention of Marcel Brands apparently, as the Brazilian has racked up 12 goals and 15 assists in all competitions this season.
As stated earlier, when asked about Everton, Neres refused to rule out a move saying :
“I have to see what is best for me, for my career and my family. We will see what the future holds, but I have a contract here and I am satisfied here.”
As well as Everton’s reported interest, Arsenal are also apparently monitoring his situation. However, Everton will be hoping that the Marcel Brands effect can help them seal a deal for the young Brazilian who may team up with fellow Brazilian Richarlison, for the Copa America this summer. Everton may well be hoping that their young forward puts in a positive word with his countryman this summer.
